Investor Operations Lead (m/f/d)

As Investor Operations Lead, you will build the servicing engine that keeps every Moonfare investor ready-to-invest, compliant, and expertly served, acting as Moonfare's 1st line of defence, partnering directly with our Compliance team (2LoD) and our Commercial leadership, and leading a team of 6–7 across three functions: Investor Regulatory Operations (1LoD), Investor Payment Operations, and Investor Services.

This is a player-coach role. You will set direction for the function and be genuinely hands-on where it matters most: reviewing complex MiFID II procedures and handling sensitive investor escalations. We are looking for a leader who treats regulation as a design constraint to engineer around, not a wall to hide behind, and who coaches their team to do the same.

You Will:

  • Lead and develop a team of 6–7 Moonfarians across 3 domains:
    • Regulatory Operations: keeping every investor in a compliant, ready-to-invest state to unlock seamless follow-on investments and distributions
    • Payment Operations: integrity of investor cashflow, payment records, controls, and audit trails that satisfy both regulators and sophisticated investors
    • Investor Services: reactive servicing for the existing investor base, with SLA frameworks and quality programs matched to a sophisticated private markets audience
  • Design and own the 1LoD controls framework: audit-ready, defensible, and evolved alongside the Compliance team (2LoD) as regulation changes.
  • Set the standard for how regulated processes are executed at Moonfare: KYC/AML, client professional classification and the judgment to translate abstract CSSF and BaFin/GwG requirements into clear, actionable workflows.
  • Partner with AI and R&D to design and govern AI-augmented onboarding and servicing workflows. This is a material part of the role, not a side project, with clear human-in-the-loop checkpoints for regulated processes.
  • Hold rigorous vendor oversight across our KYC Provider and Fund Administrator, evolving both from tactical execution to SLA-driven governance, with custodianship of the golden source of investor data.
  • Own the selling vs servicing framework with Commercial: clean handoffs, reactivation triggers surfaced to Commercial teams and CRM maintained as the single source of truth.
  • Act as the Voice of the Investor in senior forums, translating what your team sees on the ground into concrete product and commercial decisions.

The Next Moonfarian:

  • Experience as a player-coach Track record building or scaling a small ops team (5–15 people) in a regulated environment. You have built and scaled a reactive servicing or support function before: SLA frameworks, quality programs, capacity models, tiered escalation paths, and coverage strategies for sophisticated clients.
  • Direct operational experience Spanning regulatory onboarding (KYC/AML/suitability), capital call and distribution processing, or investor servicing at scale. You are energised by being hands-on in complex cases, not only by managing. You are as comfortable reviewing a complex capital call exception or a borderline MiFID II classification as you are building the playbook and team that prevents the next one.
  • Regulatory fluency & compliant creativity You have hands-on familiarity with MiFID II professional classification and the judgment to translate abstract German (GwG/BaFin) and Luxembourgish (CSSF) requirements into clear, actionable instructions for investors and internal stakeholders. You treat KYC and regulated processes as puzzles to be solved, not hurdles to be placed in front of investors.
  • 1LoD ownership You have designed or run a controls framework, not just operated within one. You distinguish clearly between 1LoD and 2LoD, and you welcome oversight rather than resist it. Comfortable as the buffer between compliance and investor-facing functions, able to hold tension without capitulating to either side.
  • Principles over tasks & AI-native mindset You design scalable processes that reduce manual drag rather than accumulating one-off workarounds. You evaluate every recurring task through the lens of "should a human still be doing this?" You have hands-on experience deploying automation, AI, or agentic workflows to eliminate manual work in a regulated context.
  • Vendor management Proven track record holding external providers (KYC, fund administrators) to high operational standards through SLAs and governance, evolving both from tactical execution to SLA-driven governance, with custodianship of the golden source of investor data.
  • Investor empathy Genuine empathy for the investor experience: you have handled sophisticated client escalations and can describe what you learned.
