The Department Theory of Novel Quantum Materials is looking for

Postdoc (f/m/d) for the Theoretical Investigation of Quantum Magnetic Systems

Your Tasks

• Developing and applying analytical and numerical methods for the investigation of novel quantum magnetic states of matter in frustrated spin systems. Methods to be applied include, e.g., field theory approaches, exact diagonalization, renormalization group techniques or Monte-Carlo methods.
• Investigating topological properties of magnetic quantum states such as fractional quasiparticle excitations in spin liquids.
• Transferring the obtained knowledge to quantum magnetic materials. Collaborations with experimental groups within and outside the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin.
• Close collaborations with the Physics Department at Freie Universität Berlin and its research groups.

Your Profile

• PhD in theoretical solid state physics
• Profound knowledge in the field of quantum magnetism
• Extensive experience with analytical and/or numerical methods in solid state physics

Promoting young researchers is a major priority for the Helmholtz Association. Its qualification schemes for young researchers are geared mainly towards PhD students, postdocs and young managers.
