Director of Data Analytics (all genders)

As the Director of Data at JustPlay, you will oversee the organisation’s entire data ecosystem - with a strong focus on analytics. You will lead a team of talented Data Engineers, Data Scientists and Data Analysts on your mission of turning data into critical insights that inform strategic decisions and product enhancements. Your leadership will ensure that JustPlay’s data stack and analytics capabilities supports our growth, product development, and operational needs effectively. Day to day, you will work closely with the VP of Engineering and other team Heads, and have the growth and product leads as well as the executive team as some of your main stakeholders. You will report directly to our CPTO - Chief Product & Technology Officer.

Tasks

In a nutshell, establish a data org (team, stack, reports, processes) that supports JustPlay’s growth, product development, and operational needs effectively. We believe this roughly translates into the following more specific responsibilities:

• Own the architecture, governance and tooling innovation with a goal to deliver measurable value to your stakeholders.
• Run the data organization as a product function — deeply understand stakeholder needs, define data products and services, and ensure them a frictionless experience while deep diving into high-quality data across the company.
• Build and lead a high-impact data team (engineers, analysts, scientists) focused on delivering clear business outcomes – not just outputs.
• Establish a modern, governed data ecosystem that acts as a single source of truth, integrates with key systems and enables self-serve analytics at scale.
• Increase decision velocity across the organization by building tools, models and infrastructure that allow anyone to confidently and quickly make data-informed decisions.
• Drive measurable uplift in data team value through stakeholder satisfaction, adoption of data products, reduction in time-to-insight, and impact on business KPIs.
• Lead the experimentation strategy – from frameworks, experiment strategy, evaluation to analysis.
• Be a hands-on leader — guiding architecture, mentoring team members, and sparring with executives on how data can drive innovation and growth.
• Continuously evaluate and integrate new technologies and methods to evolve the data stack and improve the team's speed, reliability, and impact.
• Willingness to learn and experiment with new technologies and concepts to improve overall team performance and data stack

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in analytics roles, of which at least 4 in a leadership role leading a team of data & product analysts, engineers and scientists
• Solid experience in B2C apps
• Ability to work hands on, as well as grow and nurture your team
• Solid understanding of KPIs relevant to each business function and strong stakeholder management skills
• Effective project management and prioritisation of requests with regards to organisational priorities
• Expertise in cloud computing platforms, preferably with experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Previous experience rolling out a reporting tool similar to Looker
• Proficiency in SQL
• Proficiency in Python and a good understanding of software engineering principles (e.g. Git, Docker, code testing)
• Customer centric and pragmatic approach to solving problems
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
