JetBrains is currently seeking a talented Design System Designer to take a key role in developing and improving Ring UI, our internal UI kit that powers JetBrains’ web-based products. The successful applicant will collaborate closely with designers and developers across various departments to ensure our design system is intuitive, scalable, and supports the seamless delivery of exceptional user experiences.

As part of the design team, the selected candidate will drive the unification and standardization of UI components and patterns, ensuring consistency and visual harmony across all JetBrains products. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of design and technology, shaping the foundation of how we deliver quality and coherence to our users.

Responsibilities:

1. Design system development and maintenance:

• Refine, expand, and improve Ring UI, JetBrains’ design system for web products.
• Ensure the design system supports accessibility, scalability, and responsiveness.
• Audit existing components and patterns to identify opportunities for optimization.

2. Collaboration:

• Work closely with designers across different departments to align on design goals, needs, and challenges.
• Partner with developers to ensure smooth handoff and implementation of design assets.
• Gather feedback from stakeholders and maintain a systematic approach to design updates.

3. Component and pattern design:

• Create new components, guidelines, and patterns that address product needs while maintaining visual consistency.
• Redesign existing components to meet evolving brand and product standards.
• Document usage guidelines and best practices for Ring UI components.

4. Consistency and alignment:

• Establish and uphold visual and interaction design standards across JetBrains' web products.
• Advocate for design system adoption and usage across teams.
• Regularly review product interfaces to ensure adherence to the design system.

5. Continuous improvement:

• Stay current on UI/UX design trends, tools, and methodologies.
• Gather feedback from internal teams and end-users to refine the design system.
• Contribute to discussions about the future of JetBrains' design systems and propose innovative ideas for improvement.

Voraussetzungen

Qualifications:

Required:

• Proven experience in creating or maintaining design systems for digital products.
• A strong portfolio showcasing UI/UX design skills with a focus on system-level thinking.
• An understanding of front-end technologies and the ability to collaborate with developers
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and designing for inclusivity.

Desirable:

• Experience working with web-based enterprise or technical products.
• Background in working with open-source design systems.
• Experience in an agile or iterative development environment.
