In January, we launched the first version of our mobile app. It has already been used and loved by hundreds of thousands of people who rely on it to find the best second-hand alternatives. We’re now focused on the next phase of growth, improving the product and expanding its reach.

Our journey so far includes the launch of a browser extension, a growing mobile community, and recognition as Product Hunt’s Product of the Day on Black Friday. We also won Slush 100, Europe’s largest startup pitching competition, and secured backing from leading investors including General Catalyst and Accel. Faircado has been named one of Germany’s top startups to watch, and we’re just getting started.

Tasks

The Role

As a Senior React Native Engineer, you will be a key expert and pivotal contributor to our strategic migration from Flutter to React Native (with Expo). You'll bring your deep React Native expertise to our established engineering team, which includes two talented Senior Frontend Engineers. Collaborating closely with them, the CTO (who will be guiding the overall technical strategy), and our product team, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and scaling our next-generation mobile platform.

Your primary mission will be to apply your specialized skills to ensure a successful transition, contribute to the establishment of React Native best practices, and help build a robust foundation for future innovation. We’re looking for an expert who can build exceptional user-centric mobile experiences, provide critical React Native insights throughout the migration process, and ensure smooth user flows, optimized performance, and rapid iteration in our startup environment.

What You'll Do

• Be a core hands-on developer in the technical planning, implementation, and execution of migrating our existing Flutter application to React Native using Expo.
• Apply your deep React Native expertise to build high-performance, scalable, and user-centric components for our new mobile platform.
• Implement and advocate for React Native best practices, modern coding standards, and robust testing strategies within the team.
• Collaborate closely with our existing Senior Frontend Engineers, the CTO, backend engineers, designers, and product managers to define, develop, and release new features on the React Native application.
• Provide significant input and expert advice on the mobile application's architecture and evolving development practices as our React Native codebase matures.
• Optimize mobile app performance, ensure high quality through comprehensive testing, and contribute to our CI/CD pipelines for the React Native application.
• Mentor and share your React Native knowledge with other team members, fostering growth and collective expertise within the engineering team.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

Must-Haves:

• 4+ years of professional mobile development experience, with a strong, hands-on focus on React Native
• Strong experience building and shipping mobile apps with Expo or React Native and Expo , ideally in e-commerce, marketplace, or social domains
• Solid understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript, state management (e.g., Redux, Zustand)
• Proficiency with mobile testing frameworks, automated testing principles, and ensuring high code quality.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and mobile application performance optimization techniques

Nice-to-Haves:

• Prior experience with Flutter , which will aid in understanding the existing application during the migration process
• Experience having played a key contributing role in mobile application migration projects.
• Background in building or scaling consumer mobile products
• Experience working effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment
• A genuine interest in sustainability, re-commerce, or circular economy products and knowledge of sustainability-driven or circular economy products
• Familiarity with analytics, deep linking, push notifications, and other mobile-native features
