Founding Full-Stack Engineer (AI Agents & Automation)

We are looking for a talented and entrepreneurial Founding Full-Stack Engineer to join an early-stage AI technology company building intelligent agents that automate complex recruitment workflows. The company is developing AI-powered systems that manage recruitment activities end to end, including candidate discovery, personalised outreach, qualification, candidate engagement and interview scheduling. As part of the founding engineering team, you will work directly with the CTO to design, build and scale the technical infrastructure behind these products.

This is a highly hands-on position offering significant ownership of production systems, from architecture and development through to deployment and continuous improvement. You will work across modern full-stack technologies, AI integrations, candidate data infrastructure and agentic workflows, helping transform complex recruitment processes into scalable, automated solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable full-stack applications supporting AI-powered recruitment workflows.

• Take end-to-end ownership of engineering projects, from technical design and implementation to deployment and production maintenance.

• Build and improve candidate data infrastructure, including CV parsing, candidate enrichment and integration of professional data signals.

• Develop systems that process and structure candidate information from multiple sources.

• Implement AI-powered conversational workflows for candidate outreach, qualification and engagement.

• Build and optimise agentic systems that coordinate multiple recruitment activities and automated decisions.

• Develop real-time candidate matching capabilities to connect candidate profiles with relevant opportunities.

• Integrate large language models into production applications using modern AI APIs and orchestration approaches.

• Work with embeddings, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and AI agent architectures to improve system capabilities.

• Develop backend services, APIs and database integrations supporting high-volume application workflows.

• Build responsive frontend interfaces and user-facing product functionality.

• Optimise system performance, reliability and scalability as product usage grows.

• Design and maintain integrations with external platforms, data providers and messaging services.

• Investigate production issues, implement improvements and ensure reliable application performance.

• Collaborate directly with the CTO on architecture decisions, technical priorities and product development.

• Contribute to engineering standards, development practices and technical infrastructure as the team grows.

• Experiment with emerging AI technologies and identify practical opportunities to improve product functionality.

• Make pragmatic engineering decisions, balancing delivery speed, product quality and long-term maintainability.

Requirements

• 2-4 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably across full-stack development.

• Proven experience personally building, deploying and maintaining production systems used at meaningful scale.

• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of technical projects from initial development through to production.

• Practical experience working with large language models beyond basic prompting or simple API integrations.

• Hands-on understanding of at least one advanced AI application approach, such as embeddings, RAG or agent architectures.

• Strong programming skills and ability to work across frontend and backend systems.

• Experience developing applications using modern web technologies.

• Understanding of backend architecture, API development, databases and production deployment.

• Ability to design and implement reliable integrations between different services and systems.

• Strong analytical thinking and technical problem-solving skills.

• Ability to make independent decisions and deliver solutions with incomplete information.

• Experience working in a fast-paced environment with evolving technical and product requirements.

• Practical, delivery-focused approach with an emphasis on building and shipping working products.

• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate directly with technical leadership.

• Fluent English, both written and spoken.

• Willingness to work on-site in Berlin, Germany.

Nice to have

• Previous experience working within an early-stage startup or founding engineering team.

• Experience building products or technical systems from scratch.

• Practical experience with TypeScript, React and Next.js.

• Familiarity with Supabase, Prisma or Typesense.

• Experience integrating OpenAI or Claude APIs into production systems.

• Experience using Trigger.dev or similar background job and workflow orchestration tools.

• Knowledge of candidate data processing, CV parsing or recruitment technology platforms.

• Experience developing AI-powered conversational agents or automated messaging systems.

• Familiarity with real-time matching, semantic search or recommendation systems.

• Experience independently delivering features in small, high-ownership engineering teams.
