In this role, you can make an impact and grow with us as Head of Engineering (m/f/d):

As our Head of Engineering, you will shape how engineering leadership works at Recare as we scale. Your mission is to build the leadership structures, systems, and processes that allow our engineering teams to grow while staying aligned, empowered, and effective.

You will focus on developing strong Engineering Managers, enabling Tech Leads to maintain technical ownership, and ensuring that our engineering organization can scale sustainably without creating decision bottlenecks.

• You lead the scaling of our engineering organization as it grows from six to 10+ teams, ensuring teams stay aligned, empowered, and effective.

• You build strong engineering leadership by hiring, coaching, and supporting Engineering Managers who own people development, team health, and delivery within their teams.

• You design systems that scale by establishing processes and structures that enable multiple teams to collaborate effectively without creating unnecessary bottlenecks.

• You stay close to the engineering reality through regular skip-level conversations with Tech Leads, maintaining technical insight while preserving their ownership.

• You ensure transparent communication across the organization by sharing progress, risks, and blockers with the Director of Technology and giving engineers the context they need to navigate company decisions.

• You create organizational clarity by building transparent frameworks for engineering compensation, expectations, and career growth.

• You monitor the health of the engineering organization , looking beyond delivery metrics and paying attention to signals such as team feedback, delivery predictability, and cross-team collaboration.

• You support sustainable engineering growth by making technical debt visible, prioritizing it appropriately, and ensuring it is addressed systematically.

Here’s how we picture you as our Head of Engineering (m/f/d):

• You have experience in engineering leadership roles and have successfully scaled engineering teams in fast-growing product organizations.

• You are comfortable managing managers and know how to develop Engineering Managers into strong leaders instead of stepping in to solve every problem yourself.

• You trust strong technical ownership – Tech Leads make technical decisions while you focus on leadership, systems, and alignment across teams.

• You lead through systems rather than control , designing processes that help teams make better decisions independently instead of centralizing them around yourself.

• You value honest feedback and continuous growth and foster an environment where open conversations help people and teams improve.

• You communicate with clarity and transparency – whether sharing strategy, reporting risks, or delivering difficult news with context and honesty.

• You are curious and pragmatic , asking thoughtful questions, challenging assumptions, and focusing on solutions that work in practice.

• You communicate confidently in English and are comfortable operating in an international environment.
