the number one software for qualitative and mixed methods data
analysis, founded in 2001. In addition to MAXQDA, we are continuously
advancing our cloud and AI technologies — including our new product, MAXQDA Tailwind .
Our mission is to provide researchers, universities, and organizations
with innovative and intuitive tools to help them achieve great things
with their projects.

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer / Platform Engineer (m/f/x) to take ownership of our infrastructure and drive reliability, scalability, and modernization .

Our
platform is AWS-centric (~90%), complemented by 1&1 hosting and a
small on-premise bare-metal setup. The role is hands-on, focused on
resolving infrastructure issues, applying SRE principles, and evolving
toward cloud-native best practices.

Tasks

• Own and improve infrastructure across AWS, hosted, and on-prem environments,
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve stability, performance, and security issues,
• Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant, and secure architectures,
• Apply SRE practices (SLIs/SLOs, incident management, automation etc.),
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code,
• Improve observability (monitoring, logging, alerting) and operational excellence,
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams and act as a technical mentor.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE roles
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS and production systems
• Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, containers, and Linux
• Deep knowledge of SRE principles and operating reliable distributed systems
• Proven ability to modernize legacy infrastructure pragmatically and safely
• Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, and Prometheus/Grafana
• Understanding of cost optimization and security best practices
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python or Go preferred)

Nice to have:

• Experience with hybrid or on-premise infrastructure,
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2, etc.).
