AI Futures has been exclusively retained to identify a Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineer for a growing Applied AI company in Berlin.

The business works directly with major enterprises to identify high-impact AI opportunities and then design, build and deploy the solutions into production .

They're building a small, highly capable team of engineers, product builders and strategists and are looking for someone who wants considerably more ownership than a traditional engineering position.

You'll have the freedom to shape the technology, work directly with customers and take ideas from initial problem through to production.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on technical leadership role.

You'll own the technical direction of enterprise AI projects end-to-end, from understanding the customer's problem and defining the architecture through to building, deploying and scaling the solution.

You'll make the important engineering decisions around areas such as cloud architecture, authentication, data isolation, infrastructure, CI/CD, security and deployment .

At the same time, you'll work directly with customers and have the opportunity to contribute your own ideas as the business develops new products and ventures.

What You'll Be Doing

• Own the technical direction of AI projects from architecture through to production.
• Design secure, scalable enterprise systems and applications.
• Build and deploy real-world AI and LLM-powered products .
• Make architectural decisions around multi-tenancy, authentication and data isolation.
• Define infrastructure, CI/CD, release and deployment approaches.
• Deploy solutions across enterprise cloud environments including Azure, GCP and OVH .
• Work directly with enterprise customers to understand problems and translate them into technical solutions.
• Take responsibility beyond coding - from initial technical decisions through to successful delivery.
• Work closely with engineers, product builders and strategists in a small, hands-on team.
• Help shape engineering standards and technical direction as the company grows.
• Explore and potentially launch new product ideas alongside the core consulting business.

Who We're Looking For

• Strong professional software engineering background.
• Experience building and shipping production-grade applications.
• Strong understanding of system architecture and cloud infrastructure .
• Experience with AI, LLMs or modern AI-enabled software development.
• Comfortable owning technical projects end-to-end rather than working within one narrow engineering function.
• Understanding of CI/CD, infrastructure, security and production deployment.
• Experience working with enterprise cloud environments.
• Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
• Comfortable translating ambiguous business problems into practical technical solutions.
• High level of autonomy and ownership.
• Entrepreneurial mindset - side projects, startup experience or evidence of building your own products is particularly interesting.
• Comfortable working in a small team where responsibilities extend beyond a conventional job description.
