The Tax & Year-End area at Shine

The Tax & Year-End area is a brand-new area at Shine with a dual mission: building the pan-European tax & year-end engine, and building a winning product for tax advisors and CPAs in Germany.

The tax & year-end engine is the module that takes accountants and business owners from raw books to approved accounts and filed tax returns. It is a module, not a standalone product: natively integrated with the common ledger underlying Shine Advisor and Shine Micro, able to work on top of other systems such as Shine ERP, Pennylane or Sage, and architected to be multi-country from day one — France and Germany first, then Spain. From the start it is designed to serve two segments: the main focus segment of CPAs and tax advisors, and a secondary focus on a simplified DIY solution for the business owners running their own accounting in Shine Micro.

In Germany, this engine is the foundation for something bigger: a modern, AI-native product for TAs and their clients - a real alternative to the legacy tool that dominate the market today.

This is a rare opportunity to build a new area from scratch, with the reach and domain depth of Europe's accounting leader behind you.

Your role as Senior Director / VP of Product, Tax & Year-End

As Senior Director / VP of Product, Tax & Year-End, you own the product direction for the area end-to-end. This is a builder's role with two focus areas: building the pan-European tax & year-end engine, and building a successful tax advisor / CPA product for Germany.

Depending on experience - we'll decide on the snr director/VP level. We're open.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Own the Tax & Year-End product strategy and roadmap end-to-end — decide what is shared across markets and what is local, sequence France and Germany ahead of Spain, and balance near-term launches with the long-term platform bets.

• Build the German tax advisor / CPA offering — take Shine Advisor to the German market with a tax & year-end proposition strong enough to win TAs away from the tools they use today.

• Drive structured discovery across France, Germany and Spain — the tax forms and what feeds them, the year-end process from raw books to signed accounts, and how filings are transmitted and certified in each market.

• Build and lead your product teams — hire and develop PMs and their teams as the area scales, and set a high bar for outcome-focused discovery and delivery.

• Architect for two segments from day one — a comprehensive solution for CPAs and tax advisors and a simplified DIY solution for the Micro segment, on one shared engine.

• Orchestrate across the ecosystem — partner closely with the Core Accounting and Advisor areas, the common ledger teams, and the local products in France, Germany and Spain to deliver one coherent experience.

• Track what matters — active tax advisors and end-clients, year-end closings and filings completed in-product, revenue, and the adoption and efficiency metrics that show accountants are winning back time.

Job located in Berlin, Germany with possibility of 2 days remote

About you

• You are a product person first — you have led product teams building complex B2B SaaS products and you thrive in the zero-to-one and one-to-n phases: launching new products, finding product-market fit with demanding professional users, and scaling what works.

• You have a strong understanding of the accounting and tax space in Germany — from DATEV or a comparable player — and you know what a Steuerberater actually does at year-end: the closing process, the standard adjustments, the tax filings and how they are transmitted.

• You think pan-European — you can see what is shared versus what is local across markets and turn that into a scalable platform architecture rather than three parallel products.

• You are a product leader — you give your PMs real ownership, set outcome-based goals, and raise the quality of discovery and delivery without becoming the bottleneck.

• You are AI-fluent across the board — you use AI tooling in your own workflow, you think critically about where AI changes what tax and year-end software should do, and you can shape product bets where AI is a core capability.

• You hold the tension between shipping near-term in Germany and building an engine for European scale — and make deliberate trade-offs rather than defaulting to one or the other.

• You communicate with precision — with engineers on system design, with tax advisors on workflow needs, and with leadership on strategic trade-offs.

• You are fluent in English and German; French is a plus.
